Family Strengthening

The mission of the Refugee Family Strengthening initiative is to eliminate the social issues of domestic abuse and violence, and to promote healthy Hmong families. Program participants attend workshops and training on topics such as: the U.S. legal system, intergenerational conflict and communication, parenting, sexual assault awareness, post-secondary education, and preventing early cultural marriage.

Two family-strengthening events are held each year during Thanksgiving and Christmas for families participating in the program. In addition, the ECAHMAA coordinates the activities of the Partnership for Strong Hmong Families, a community initiative formed to provide opportunities for education to further strengthen Hmong families. Any individuals seeking family strengthening or domestic violence advocacy are eligible for the program.

Individuals and families in crises may call the 24hr confidential phone line at (715) 379-6833 for services and referrals.
